3rd Annual Global Fusion Festival at Penn's Landing

The Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC), a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau is proud to produce the 3rd Annual Global Fusion Festival. This FREE, one-day event will be held on Saturday, July 18 from Noon to 8:00 p.m. at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, Columbus Boulevard at Market Street.

The festival-themed "Global Fusion" will feature national recording artists and regional and local acts representing Philadelphia’s African Diaspora, Hispanic, Caribbean, and Asian cultures, offering a diversity of entertainment for the entire family. In addition to national headliners and ethnic dance performances, the festival will also include international foods, multicultural vendors, give-aways, educational programs for participants of all ages, and new for 2009, a custom motor showcase.

Highly acclaimed Old School legends, Bell Biv DeVoe, R&B soloist Bobby Valentino, Merengue great Oro Solido, Merengue/Hip-hop award winner Amarfis y la banda de Atakke, and Gospel sensation James Fortune are headliners for this year’s Global Fusion Festival.

“We are excited to produce the 3rd Annual Global Fusion Festival,” states MAC executive director Tanya Hall. “The festival supports our efforts in presenting our City to visitors and convention planners as a top multicultural destination.”

Along with the stage entertainment, this year’s festival will feature special exhibitions such as Lest We Forget, Make-and-Take crafts by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Children's Pavilion will offer cultural enrichment and feature the Philadelphia ZOO on Wheels, face painting, and multicultural crafts for kids of all ages.

What started in 2007, as a two-day event attracting more than 5,000 people, then tripled in attendance in 2008 to attract 15,000 attendees. The 2009 festival is expected to draw more than 20,000 event-goers and continues to draw overnight visitors to Philadelphia.

This free event, presented by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, PECO, and the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC), showcases the cultures MAC promotes. The Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress, a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, was formed in 1987 as the first multicultural division of a Convention & Visitors Bureau in the nation. MAC maximizes opportunities for the region by promoting Philadelphia as an ethnically diverse visitor destination, encouraging multicultural business and social responsibility that contributes to and benefits from the varying multicultural communities that enhance our region's hospitality and tourism industry.
