 The recent gas/oil crisis alone isn’t killing the American economy but it just may be the straw that has broke the camels back. So while average Americans are watching their futures disappear in front of our eyes we’re getting nothing but lip service from Washington, but the time for talk has ended, and the time for action is now.
So here’s what has to happen: (just a warning some of the following are not going to sit right with you, but because we’re so bad off we really don’t have any other options.)
First and foremost, it’s time to nationalize all energy sector industries. I know that’s going to rub all you free market people the wrong way, but it’s time to accept that energy is not a luxury it’s a necessity, and what has been going on with oil, natural gas and electricity has been criminal, made possible by the energy industries lapdogs in Washington, and specifically by individuals like Phil Graham, John McCain’s financial advisor.
Next we have to deal with the financial sector, and the practice of predatory loans. It’s time to bring interest on loans back to a human number again. Look at it this way, The Romans capped interest at 8 percent because they believed anything beyond that way just plain criminal. *Note, the Roman’s were the same people who fed Christians to lions for entertainment, to name but one of their pastimes, and even they thought it criminal to permit predatory loans.
Next we have to deal with the massive trade imbalance that exists. Look up balance of trade in any dictionary and what you’ll find is, when exports exceed imports – that’s good, when imports exceed exports that’s bad. And it is worse than it’s ever been.
Get the money out of politics. No that’s not just a political phrase that gets bumped around during the election cycle it’s a real need if we’re ever going to get the country back on track. Think about it, we are the only nation in the world that allows other nations to dictate what becomes law in this country. They do so through their lobbyists and the massive amounts of money they poor into the coffers of our elected criminals.
George Bush is famous for saying it’s a different world now, and at least in that, he’s correct. We can no longer continue to do business as usual, because quite frankly, we’re out of money.
But don’t think Washington is going to do it all by themselves. If you want this to be the greatest country on earth again than you need to act. Call, write letter, send carrier pigeons, whatever you need to do, but contact your elected officials and let them know it’s gone too far and it’s time for them to start serving the American people again.
From here on in, don’t believe what you hear on the TV; believe what you experience for yourself, and act in the interest of the country and your fellow citizens. It’s our country and we want it back. If we act together we can make the nation great again. If we submit to distractions and party politics things will only get worse. The future is ours, if we have the courage to rise up and take it.
