The New York Songwriters’ Circle and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia are giving the best up and coming songwriters the opportunity to showcase their talents the third Thursday of every month from now until the end of November. The next showcase, Thursday, August 28th at 8 p.m., will feature some of the best upcoming indie artists of today including Liz Longley, Fools For April, Chana Rothman, Joey Mutis, and John Schmitt on the Upstair’s Stage at World Cafe Live (3025 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA). The legendary New York Songwriters Circle, celebrating its 18th year, has discovered such notable artists as Vanessa Carlton, Norah Jones, Gavin DeGraw, Jesse Harris, Lisa Loeb, Charlotte Sometimes, Jill Sobule, Kate Voegele and Chris Barron (of the Spin Doctors).

2008 Songwriting Contest -- Submissions
The New York Songwriters’ Circle is currently accepting submissions for its annual Songwriting Contest, with over $15,000 in cash and prizes. Past contest winners include Kate Voegele, (currently starring in the hit TV Show "One Tree Hill") and "Company Of Thieves," (recently featured as a breaking artist by the Billboard Magazine). Get your songs heard by top music industry professionals, gain exposure, win cash prizes and become a part of the fastest growing songwriting community in the world! Selected writers will be invited to perform as part of the circle's ongoing showcases in Philadelphia and New York.

For over 18 years, the New York Songwriters’ Circle has been producing and directing bi-monthly shows at the legendary Bitter End club, in New York City's West Village.
