SamRo Pays Nearly 87-Grand For Failed Libel Suit
Lindsay Lohan's constant gal pal Samantha Ronson can finally put a failed libel lawsuit behind her, but at a cost of nearly 87-thousand dollars. According to E! Online, the deejay paid off celebrity blogger Perez Hilton on Friday, with a check for 86-thousand-832-dollars. Ronson sued Hilton for defamation when he accused her of owning the cocaine found in Lohan's car during a 2007 car crash. A judge threw out the libel lawsuit in January of this year and ordered Ronson to pay Hilton's legal fees. By paying the full amount on Friday, Ronson avoids a court hearing which would have taken place today.
Ronson filed suit in July 2007 after Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, wrote that she planted drugs in Lohan's car. A judge threw out the case twice, claiming Ronson's lawyer did not handle the case properly and no new information was being presented. Ronson later sued her attorney for abandoning his representation before several important benchmarks in the case. |
