Neil Diamond Prepping For "Home" Follow-Up
Neil Diamond isn't finished touring behind his most recent release, "Home Before Dark," but he's already starting to map out the album's follow-up. The veteran singer-songwriter tells Billboard.com that for the new project he's once again teaming up with producer Rick Rubin, who was at the helm for both "Home" and its predecessor, "12 Songs." While he notes they've, quote, "spoken about an idea we both like," he says it's too soon to really know what direction the album will take. However, Diamond notes they'll likely take, quote, "a different approach" than they did for either "Home" or "12 Songs." He adds that he and Rubin plan to meet up on January 12th to begin work on the effort. This quick return to the studio could mean a shorter wait for Diamond's next album. "Home Before Dark," which was released just six months ago, is Diamond's fourth studio effort since 1998, and with each disc there was a three-to-four-year gap between releases.
Diamond will launch the final leg of his "Home Before Dark" tour this weekend. He's using these last shows to help raise money for the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund, which was established by Oak Island, Texas Mayor Bill White. The community is among those that was most heavily damaged by Hurricane Ike. |
