Black Sabbath Guitarist Added To Birmingham Walk
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi will be honored by his hometown this weekend. He's among the new additions to the Birmingham Walk of Stars, a Hollywood Walk of Fame-type of attraction on Broad Street in Birmingham, England. The Walk was established last year, with Iommi's band mate Ozzy Osbourne the inaugural inductee. Iommi recently admitted that he was "shocked" to learn he'd been picked to receive a star, telling the UK's "Birmingham Mail" he considered it "an honor" and added, quote, "It's so nice being recognized in your home town." Broad Street manager Mike Olley has said he's "delighted" Iommi is being added to the Walk, explaining, quote, "The contribution he has made to rock music deserves to be honored." Other new inductees include actress Julie Walters, comedian Jasper Carrott, and singer Noddy Holder. Iommi and the others will get their stars in a ceremony on Sunday. |
