Taylor Swift Holds Billboard Chart Record With Six Debuts
Taylor Swift continues to break records. The 18-year-old country-pop star has now become the first artist ever to hold six top 20 debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart within a calendar year. Billboard.com reports Swift's new single, "White Horse," debuted at number 13 today, making Swift the new record holder. Her album "Fearless" debuted at number one on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums Chart this week. The CD raked in sales from 592-thousand copies within its first week, making it the best sales week for a country album in a year. The 18-year-old now ties with Miley Cyrus' Hannah Montana for having the most tracks on the Billboard chart in a single week by a female artist.
Spiraling off her success, Swift plans to perform at Sunday's American Music Awards. She joins the ranks of Rihanna, Kanye West and Coldplay who are also in the performance lineup. The 36th Annual American Music Awards will be presented this Sunday, November 23rd from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. |
