Lady GaGa, Bono, Bieber Join "We Are The World"
There's a remake of the 1985 charity track "We Are The World" being produced and some big names have been added to it. Bono from U2 and Lady GaGa were some last-minute, GRAMMY night additions, according to MTV.com. Teen singing sensation Justin Bieber tweeted on Monday afternoon that he had also joined up for the project. Bieber tweeted, quote, "today is a BIG day...im invited to sing on the remake of WE ARE THE WORLD...going to be in the room with some superstars singing for Haiti." Names already attached to this new version of the song include Usher, Akon, Toni Braxton, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Mraz, and Carlos Santana.
According to EOnline.com, the song's original creators, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones, were able to connect with GaGa and Bono at Sunday night's 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards. The original "We Are The World" raised money to for African relief efforts that addressed the continent's famine problem. The new version will address relief efforts in Haiti due to the January 12th earthquake there. |
