Conrad Murray's Attorney Denies Reports Of Surrender
The attorney for Dr. Conrad Murray is denying recent reports that his client will be surrendering to authorities sometime this week. While Ed Chernoff acknowledges that Murray is in Los Angeles, he says Michael Jackson's former physician does not plan on appearing in court. Chernoff states, quote, "Yes, he's in Los Angeles, he's here to meet with his lawyers and to visit with his family. But, look, if the cops want him he's not hiding. We'll be happy to surrender him and they know that."
TMZ.com is reporting that Murray is expected to surrender on Wednesday to charges of involuntary manslaughter in connection to the "King of Pop's" death. Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons says she's aware of such reports, but declined to discuss their validity. She states, quote, "We've got nothing pending right now." If Murray does in fact surrender, the charges will have to be filed before he can appear in court.
Michael Jackson died last June after suffering cardiac arrest. Investigators later learned that the pop icon had lethal levels of the sedative Propofol in his system. Murray subsequently revealed to authorities that he provided Jackson with the drug, but reduced his dosages fearing he was becoming addicted. |
