Queen Latifah Sending Out SOS For Haiti
Rapper-turned-actress Queen Latifah has a busy weekend ahead of her, starting with her sending out an "SOS" for Haiti relief. The Queen will be hosting BET's "SOS Saving OurSelves -- Help For Haiti" telethon Friday night on the network, along with Sean "Diddy" Combs and rapper Pharrell. At a Thursday Super Bowl press conference, Latifah talked about what the telethon represents.
The fundraiser will be held at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, with tickets available to the public through Ticketmaster. Proceeds will benefit Yele Haiti, CARE, Project MediShare, and P&G's Children's Safe Drinking Water Program. Other Celebrities participating in the benefit include Justin Bieber, Nas, Damian Marley, Wyclef Jean, Mary J. Blige, Keri Hilson, Jazmine Sullivan, Pitbull, Akon, Robin Thicke, Monica, Trey Songz, Common, David Banner, Missy Elliott, Gloria Estefan, Pete Wentz, Chrisette Michelle, Jeremih, Jason Derulo, The Dream, T-Pain, Sean Kingston, Ne-Yo, and Chris Brown.
Queen Latifah has more duties this weekend. The singer will also perform "America The Beautiful" before the Super Bowl on Sunday. She joins performer Carrie Underwood, who will be singing the National Anthem at the Big Game. |
